From humble beginnings...

The San Jose Ukulele Club was founded in August 2010 by Gillian Altieri who taught herself how to play after buying a Costco ukulele in Hawaii. Our first meeting was in the historic mining community of New Almaden tucked into a valley in the southernmost end of San Jose CA. We started with about a half dozen participants but soon outgrew their small club house and moved north to San Jose proper.

Since our formation, we have performed publicly at many different venues, including the Princeton Plaza Mall Farmers Market, Santana Row’s Restaurant Walk, Pioneer Day at the New Almaden Quicksilver Park, First Congregational Church's Ukulele Summer Jam, Na Leo Mokupuni ma Cupertino any many other places!

We continue her legacy by playing our monthly meetings, our local Farmers Market and other special events, and also by sharing our online songbook with the world. Our goal is to spread the joy of the ukulele community, near and afar.
